By Leather Naturally, we celebrate World Leather Day in making the awareness of the importance to Repair, Repurpose and Reuse leather goods. Repairing leather goods is economically wise and environmentally beneficial. Extending the life of leather products reduces the demand for new materials, conserves resources, and diminishes environmental impact. It supports sustainable consumption by promoting durability and reducing waste.
Repairing leather is a skilled practice that extends the life of leather goods such as shoes, bags, and furniture, through techniques like stitching, patching, and conditioning. This practice not only restores and maintains the aesthetic and functional quality of leather items but also offers significant environmental benefits. By repairing leather, we reduce waste, minimize the demand for new resources, and promote a culture of sustainability. Emphasizing repair helps conserve craftsmanship traditions and encourages a more sustainable, less disposable approach to consumption.
We are delighted to promote the benefits of repairing, reusing, and repurposing leather goods together with Leather Naturally and their global members.
We recently finished up the very first Colourlock Training in Puerto Rico and it was amazing thanks to UM Distributors, Inc. We had a really great group, everyone was very eager to learn Colourlock’s how to repair & care for leather methods. With Puerto Rico being in a very subtropical location, automotive leathers can easily become damaged due to high heat/UV and fast changing climates. Within the Colourlock Training we explain leather, what it is, how it’s made, where it’s used, the different types of leathers and so much more. Not only the variations of leathers but also plastics and vinyls. After a Colourlock Training, all students have a clear understanding of how leather becomes damaged, how to address the damages and to incorporate the services within their business.
The hospitality and professionalism from UM Distributors was incredible as Katherine and family made the entire week so enjoyable for us. This was the first Colourlock Leather Care & Repair Training in Puerto Rico but definitely not the last.
