Jaguar XKR Paint Correction
An extensive Paint Correction on a Jaguar XKR. A little over 20 hours of correction time using M105 and Meg’s Cutting Disc. (3″ & 5″) Followed up with Scholl’s S30+ with Meg’s Finishing Disc. I found this to be a great combination for this soft body Jag. Then the car was gone over with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid and topped off with a very wonderful developmental wax from Swissvax USA. All the exterior trim was coated with 22PLE, VR1 Signature Trim and Plastic Restorer.

Supercharged Jaguar XKR Paint Correction
Once the car was in the shop we could check out the severity of the damage under our lights and take the paint measurements. (prepping for detail time!!!)
This Jaguar was purchased used with low miles and from the pictures you’re about to see….. It was never maintained properly with the wash methods in the past.

The front quarter panel had taken a rub against something
(Some more trunk shots with direct sun light)
So… the paints looking pretty rough
Before beginning the paint correction process some paint measurements were taken to see how much clear we had to work with.
Right around the cowl induction vents we can see how the paint goes from high to low withing a 4 inch movement.
For another example… Down at the corner of the bonnet by the headlight
(A Very Low Reading)
(The front bumper was already in the works in the picture above)
Here a a couple 50/50 shots to see improvements that are being made through proper paint correction. As stated, M105 and Megs Cutting Disc for the compounding stage.
Check out the swirl marks above the 50/50 line….. OUCH (Bad prior details)
Here was a shot of it before….
Front bumper after a singe pass
Drivers Side Door…. HELLO
A closer look! Major Improvements!
Working our way around to the rear of the vehicle….
Once getting around to the rear of this Jaguar, we find some sand scratches left behind….. From where or why… We don’t know? But it looks hideous and most be fixed!
(A few before shots)
Prepped and getting better!
Were not done yet….. so here is a shot to let you know things are getting better. It gets hard to look at so many shots of rough paint….. But to show their is hope and its coming….
Now remember that nasty scuff up a long the front passenger side quarter panel?!?!
(Here is a reminder)
And then again after some magic!
Starting to look like a proper XKR now!!!
Wheel & Wheel Well Cleaning & Detailing
With the car jacked up and on stands we remove the wheels to properly clean and protect them from the inside out.
The suspension was cleaned with P21S Auto Wash and various brushes.
Once the wheels were off they got soaked down with Sonax Wheels Cleaner.
(Below) After the Sonax Wheels Cleaner has been agitated and left on the wheels for a few minutes. The metallic contaminates begin to be dissolved.
Rinsed off and cleaned again with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid by hand.
Moving On…. Getting to some of the details under the hood. (Removed a few pieces)
Some typical water spotting going on under the bonnet. (Below) Supercharged Motor Before
After some cleaning and protected with 303 Aerospace protect ant
(Below) (After) Cleaned by hand with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid
She starts to come to the completion stages!!!
I’ll show how this insanely awesome protection was applied.
With a small applicator and a very small amount of product, we apply gently across the trim.
Here is a before and after with the 22PLE applied.
The 22PLE will set on the trim for a few min and then with a clean cloth be buffed off. Leaving and unbelievable, restored look to the trim.
Here is another example of the plastic trim on the lower rear part of the bumper
(Below) The picture shows the 22PLE VR1 applied but not buffed off at this point.
(Below) And now buffing off. On the left side we can see the extra amounts of shine being knocked down a bit to give the trim the proper look it should have.
The 22PLE VR1 will last longer and protect better than anything else on the market today. Giving a semi-permanent coating to protect against UV and other harsh contaminants. These sections of the vehicle will clean easier and look great for the time to come.
(Below) Completely buffed off
Finishing up on this detail write up…. We get to cleaning up on some of the more hidden areas.
(Below) The Supercharged imprinted cowl induction scoops.
Had some left over paste from previous details that needed to be cleaned up!
Cleaned out but still needed some correction.
Corrected then installed back onto the car ready to receive a coat of wax!!!
One of the new waxes that should be available soon from Swissvax USA
Some final sun shots!!! Hope you enjoyed this Jaguar XKR write up!!!
