BMW E36 Dakar Yellow Paint Correction
Reconditioning the faded paint of a BMW E36 in Dakar Yellow.
This e36 came in completely faded and I questioned if it was worth the challenge. So I took on the challenge! Many of the panels were oxidized differently and had several variations of yellow color tone. The largest question I had in my head was, “can I get the car to stay in uniform.” (Can I get the car to have the same yellow color tone appose to several variations of yellow?)
This is original Dakar Yellow single stage paint. The car has no top coat (clear coat) to protect the paint from UV and other elements like the modern vehicles we are accustom to. Clear coat provides a shine, protects the paint and puts off better reflective properties unlike this classic BMW with lacquer paint.
A vehicle like this will most likely fade again at some point of time in the course of it’s life, It’s kinda like cancer. The trick will be to take good care of it after the detail so it holds together for a great deal of time.
Have a look at a few of the pics below and enjoy the detail!
